Group Life Assurance Scheme for your Personnel as stipulated by the Pensions Reform Act 2004
THE PENSION REFORM ACT 2004
Under section 9(3) of the Pensions Reform Act 2004, every organization with minimum of five (5) employees is mandated to put in place a Group Life Assurance Scheme with an insurance company to provide lump sum Death-In-Service benefits on death of any employee.
We therefore suggest that your establishment take necessary steps to put in place a well structured scheme to meet this requirement. The provisions of the Act apply to all Public Service establishments and private sector companies / organizations.
The scheme is a yearly renewable Life Assurance cover. In the event of death of any of your staff, the underwriting firm will pay 300% of the deceased employee’s emolument to the surviving dependants. This helps to alleviate the trauma associated with loosing a breadwinner as well as help to reduce your costs to the deceased’s family through advance funding.
